Designed and manufactured to exacting standards, Meade Series 4000 Super Plössl eyepieces deliver wide 52° apparent fields of view (44° for the SP40mm) with all of the resolution, edge-of- field sharpness and color correction demanded in the most advanced visual applications. All eyepieces are multi-coated and include soft rubber eyeguards. 40˚ field of view (50˚ @ 80mm / 40˚ @ 24mm)

I did side-by-side testing with Meade 9mm, 16mm and 26mm…the quality and clarity was superior every length. The 8mm-24mm zoom eyepiece is okay for the wider field viewing like 24mm, but zooming in to 15mm or 8mm reveals a noticeable degradation when compared to the individual lenses of the same length. Admittedly, the idea of one lens for all, reducing the time spent changing lenses might seem like a good idea but it’s disappointing. Definitely not worth the price tag
