I'm told atheism is based on science
I understand everything should be tested for authenticity, if it cannot be replicated then its false
I have bought myself a cheap telescope to try and find god. He is nowhere to be found.
Should I take my telescope back to the shop and get a more powerful one?

Though you’re right that absence of evidence is evidence of absence.
Trying to understand the supernatural with a tool meant for deciphering the natural world, logic – is illogical.

Fully half the human brain is independant of logic, as is half the human experience, why then do you insist that God fit within your narrow limits of logic?

Perhaps if you learned more about theism, to realize that you don’t find God with a telescope, you might find Him.

Atheism is not necessarily based on logic and science, though I suppose that is what brings a lot of people to an atheistic point of view. But technically any number of experiences/ideas/feelings can lead one to lose or never develop a belief in gods.

To be an atheist requires logic & common sense to not exist for a person.
Atheism is not based on science, but wishful thinking to escape judgment from the Creator.
Atheism comes from evolution, (that you call science), which, after careful study, is LSD tripping by darwin and others way before him.
Keep the atheism, get a better telescope. You won’t find any sort of god, but you may discover something else.
